Why I Built ROTARITHM
I’ve spent decades managing large-scale operations and experienced first-hand how difficult workforce planning can become.
I’ve seen rotas built around existing shift patterns rather than around what the operation actually needs; demand, productivity, maintenance coverage, staffing levels, start and finish times, peak periods and the gaps between them.
The challenge gets even harder when the business changes. A rota might work today but become inefficient very quickly when volume, operating hours or staffing requirements move.
When I looked for a tool to help me work through these problems, I struggled to find something with the level of detail and flexibility I needed without uploading sensitive operational data or paying for expensive workforce management software.
So I decided to build one.
ROTARITHM is based on the kind of workforce-planning problems I’ve had to solve myself. It helps turn demand and operational requirements into different staffing and rota options, so you can understand the impact of a decision before putting it into practice.
I’m continuing to develop it around real operational challenges, and hopefully it can save other people some of the time and frustration I experienced trying to solve them.
Built from operational experience. Designed to make workforce planning easier.
